Plynlimon research catchments: river flow (Wye at Gwy site)

River flow data measured every 15 minutes at the Wye at Gwy site. The data spans from 1973 to 2008. The units are m3/s. The station is registered within the National River Flow Archive as 55033. The gauge is a rectangular side contracted critical depth flume. The catchment The catchment encompasses the headwaters of the River Wye and has an area of 3.9 km2. The catchment is unforested moorland with a peaty plateau and grassland on free draining slopes and has a high annual rainfall (approximately 2700mm). The geology is Ordovician massive grits, slates and Silurian mudstones.
