Plynlimon research catchments: river flow (Hore at Upper Hore site)

River flow data measured every 15 minutes at the Hore at Upper Hore site. The data spans from 1985 to 2008. The units are m3/s. The station is registered within the National River Flow Archive as 54097. The gauge is a rectangular side contracted critical depth flume. The catchment is a headwater tributary of the River Severn and has an area of 1.6 km2. The highest and southern fringes of the catchment are peat moorland. The remaining 78 % of the catchment has coniferous forest planted in 1958 and 1960. The catchment has very steep slopes and a high annual rainfall (approximately 2700mm). The geology is Palaeozoic grits and shales.
